I have done some play testing of the Mongoose offering.  The combat system
in particular is quite different from RQ2 and RQ3(I'm not sure what I'm
allowed to say about it).

I'm not familiar with BRP, but based on what I've seen on the net, and the
character sheet I just downloaded I think that the Mongoose offering is very
very different.

Of course, what is being play tested now, and what makes it into the
commercial release may not be the same thing!
