Another possibility just occurred to me here. You see a plant you 
recognize, but you notice something new about it. For example, in 
finding it, you notice that it often seems to grow in the shade of a 
certain kind of tree. So you get a check, and there's a chance that 
you'll find the same plant faster next time because you have a better 
idea where to look, as well as what to look for.
