I suggest suppling them with pre-generated characters in the 70-80% skill range for main skills. Give them all the PC's some useful magic. When I first played RQ, one of the things that struck me was that everyone could use magic. Maybe some one use Divine scattered about the PC. Do not allow any magic weapons. Only allow the temporal spells on weapons. That will help them separate D&D and RQ.
You should do well. Have fun and get them converted.
