Wow. I'm a fan, but that's taking fandom to a whole
new level.

OK, wrt to CoC, how about the complete lack of
influence of abilities on skill chances*?

Quite true, which I why I think some of the crunchier
aspects of the combat system (e.g., impales) probably
aren't required..

Oh, I think they've done a pretty good job thus far. I
actually think if it wasn't for their consistent
promotion of the Lovecraft mythos its influence in
contemporary popular culture would be much less
significant.

(Never underestimate the power of a half-million
gamers)...
