A question, from a simulationist perspective, is
whether or not this should be the case. Many years ago
when I regularly did fencing a standard circuit
activity was to have increasing numbers of multiple
attackers lined against a single defender. It was not
unusual for a (skilled) single individual to parry
against 1/2 dozen and more individuals.
