I always though RQ3 SR was lower the longer a weapon was (plus the
bigger/faster the character), which is quite easy to understand IMO. Then
if one gets close, the situation reverses itself, where the roman with the
gladius suddenly has the advantage over teh macedonian with the long spear
who must either fight at SR/attach disadvantage or drop spear and pull
sword, thereby opening himself up to a free attack or two from his roman
adversary. Then again this is from memory, so I may be off the mark in
terms of the exact rules.
